  • 1/2 Mile Swim
  • 14 Mile Bike
  • 3.1 Mile Run

SANCTIONS
  • USA TRIATHLON Sanctioned Event
  • NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER

This fund raising event has grown to 550 participating athletes from near and far. Athletes must register for this event. The finish line is located at the Lighthouse, at the top of Turtle Hill. Family and friends gather to celebrate with the athletes. The awards ceremony includes trophies, gift raffles and a post race continental breakfast.

NOTE: ALL DESIGNATED CHECK-IN LOCATIONS WILL BE FOR REGISTERED ATHLETES FOR NECESSARY RACE CHECK-IN & PICK-UP




Lighthouse Weekend

August 15-16, 2009

Saturday: 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
Sunday: 10:30 am - 5:30 pm

  • Book Signing by Henry Osmers, author of ON EAGLE'S BEAK: A HISTORY OF THE MONTAUK LIGHTHOUSE
  • Leather Crafting by Steve Crawford
  • Traditional Pottery by Mary Scott
  • Trap Fishing by Town Co-Historian Stuart Vorpahl
  • Signing of Art Work by famed local artist Terry Elkins
  • Slide Shows on Long Island Lighthouses by Robert Muller, President of the Long Island Lighthouse Society
  • Face Painting
  • Painting and Photography Exhibit by high school students from Hampton Bays, Riverhead, Westhampton Beach, Bridgehampton, and East Hampton
  • Presentations by Kings of the Coast Pirates
  • Bonac Radio Club (Sunday only)
  • Book Signing by Christian McLean for Saturday and Sunday 11-4

Admission prices are $8 for adults (ages 13 to 61), $6 for Senior Citizens (62 and older), $4 for children 41 inches in height up to age 12. Children under 41 inches in height are free but may not climb the tower nor may they be carried up the tower. Please be advised that NY State Department of Parks charges a parking fee of $6 per car.

Lighthouse Challenge

May 16 & 17, 2009
8:00am to 6:00pm

The Montauk Lighthouse Museum is proud to participate in the 5th Annual Long Island Lighthouse Challenge on May 16 and 17, 2009. We will be open from 8 AM to 6 PM.

The 2008 Long Island Lighthouse Challenge will present to the participants the rich lighthouse heritage of Long Island. All of the stops will be in Suffolk County which, in honor of its distinction of having more lighthouses than any other county in the nation, has adopted the name "America's Lighthouse County."

Complete the challenge by visiting each site within the weekend. Get your lighthouse passport stamped and receive a commemorative souvenir from each site. Challenge Sites:

  • Long Beach Bar
  • Orient Point/Plum Island
  • Horton Point
  • Old Field Point

3rd Annual Night at the Light

July 25, 2009

This fundraising event is sponsored by the Montauk Chamber of Commerce. It features the tasting of Long island's finest wines, live music, and a silent auction.

"Lighting the Light"

(The Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend)
4:30 - 7:00pm
(Rain Date: Sat. Dec. 5th, 2009)



Once again, the Montauk Point Lighthouse will be illuminated with thousands of white lights to herald the beginning of the Holiday Season. The celebration will include live music and free hot cider, cookies, and candy canes. Santa has been invited and is expected to attend. Parking and admission to the lighthouse grounds are free. The lights will be lit nightly from 4:30 PM to 1 AM through January 2, 2010. The event is sponsored and paid for by the Montauk Historical Society, a 501 (c)(3) not for profit organization. If you would like to contribute towards the costs of this inspirational event, please send your donation to Montauk Historical Society, P.O. Box 943, Montauk, NY 11954


Christmas At The Lighthouse

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

This event is scheduled for Sunday, November 29th, weather permitting. The Lighthouse will be decorated for the holiday. Hot cider and snacks will be served. The Gift Shop will be opening for holiday shopping. Pony rides will be available for young children, and children can be photographed with a jolly Santa. Admission to the museum is free during this event. The tower climb will be closed. The rain date is Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 if the Lighting the Light is cancelled on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.
